About

In 2020 I launched Teachlands.com to help curious educators peek inside inspiring schools in Finland and beyond. I'm passionate about supporting teachers to strengthen their teaching practices through online learning. Visit the Teachlands blog to see my latest posts.

I wrote Teach Like Finland: 33 Simple Strategies for Joyful Classrooms (W.W. Norton, 2017) and I'm the co-author of In Teachers We Trust: The Finnish Way to World-Class Schools. Over the years, I've written about my teaching experiences for The AtlanticEducational LeadershipEducation Week Teacher, and on my first education blog, Taught by Finland.

Since I started my teaching career in 2009 in Massachusetts public schools, I've worked as a classroom teacher in grades 1, 5, and 6 in the United States and Finland. In 2014, I received my master's degree in elementary education. I hold teaching licenses from Connecticut and Massachusetts.

I'm often asked to speak about my experiences as a foreign educator in Finland and the lessons I learned there. I also love to speak internationally about the importance of play, trust, and joy in education. For the 2022-2023 school year, I'm living in Connecticut.
